Of Such Priceless Worth, Our Earth

Of Such Priceless Worth, Our Earth

by Seah Greenhorn
(poem with copyright)

Preservation of our marvelous earth comes through enlightenment Divine.
Elevating our imperfect, though brilliant minds, as to what our Creator defines
as righteous. For his purposes we must know, as to why our crystal rivers do flow endless in cycles. Why our moon, in heavens exquisite, do glow nightly affecting rising tides that hide a multitude of varieties our taste buds do appreciate or conversely deride as unpalatable.

Amazing that these options upon us were bestowed even before our birth. Love in abundance to us shown. We walk, dance, skip among these demonstrations of supreme affection daily in ignorance or arrogance. The rain refreshing and cleansing our world, yet we curl or stretch out upon our couches, lay our weary heads upon our pillows and gently or not snore.

Did we give thanks for the day before?... True, scores upon scores of years, we felt the heat from the nation's roaring anger demolishing our natural resources through greedy wars. The future of our children's birthrights in danger of annihilation.

Did we dream this stream towards governments internationally reigning in supreme defiance of the Almighty's appointed King? Haughty prideful strides through history deem it a necessity for God the Warrior to righteously intervene. To sift the world of wickedness ending this rush to a precipice of eternal disaster. The Sovereign is educating mankind for this happily ever after on this earth. I am dedicated to proclaiming this truth of such priceless worth.

Reason for poem:
Write a poem for contest Dedicated to My Cause
Many believe that the earth is being destroyed on many fronts You will be Captain Planet for this contest because you will choose an area of concern and use your poetic words in dedication to this cause that can restore balance on the earth.

As usual I believe that shorter precise poems are more effective so no more than 20 lines please. Coin your own version of the topic but I should be wowed by your poetry to believe in this cause.

Hint: Rhythm is more important than rhymes to me I will add HM later.

OK, let's do it.
{Based upon Psalm 96:7-13:}

"Give Jehovah his due, you families of the peoples,
Give Jehovah his due for his glory and strength.
Give Jehovah the glory due his name;
Bring a gift and come into his courtyards.
Bow down to Jehovah in holy adornment;
Tremble before him, all the earth!
Declare among the nations: “Jehovah has become King!
[The earth is firmly established, it cannot be moved.]
He will judge the peoples fairly.”
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be joyful;
Let the sea thunder and all that fills it;
Let the fields and everything in them rejoice.
At the same time let all the trees of the forest shout joyfully
Before Jehovah, for he is coming,
He is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the inhabited earth with righteousness
And the peoples with his faithfulness."

Propensity

Propensity

by Seah Greenhorn
(poem with copyright)

On the eastern slope
of the Mount of Olives,

“about two miles”
away from Jerusalem be,

lived Martha, Mary, and Lazarus,
beloved friends of Jesus.

Their home
in the lovely Bethany.

The site today marked by a small village
located 1.5 mi ESE of the Temple Mount
with an Arabic name meaning

“The Place of Lazarus.”

This fact verifying Lazarus' and Jesus'
actual historicity.

During one of Jesus' visits
to this vicinity

his words to Martha
by extension to me
brighten my eyes to see

just where I should place my values
and to what degree.

“Martha, Martha,
you are anxious and disturbed
about many things.

A few things, though, are needed,
or just one.

For her part, Mary chose
the good portion,

and it will not be taken away from her.”

These very words
my thoughts bubble astir.

Maybe as butter churned by Martha
whose hospitality we've come to admire and know.

A generosity of spirit
to set anyone's heart aglow.

What if Jesus were to visit me?
Just what would he observe as to my propensity?

If he spoke regularly
would I be inclined

to be distracted

or would I
like Mary
recline

discreetly at his feet
to feast on nourishment
of more spiritual value to eat?

Today,
technology
makes losing focus
easy.

Consuming our minds
with thoughts that
diminish a desire
for necessary

spirituality.

As an Olympic runner
dispenses

with many luxuries
for a time

to attain acknowledgement
from the world

so as to view
their individual
special capabilities

I should not lose focus on my love
for the Divine Creator
and his son

following their directions
to live
Eternally.

Sacrifices
of time
to enlighten the mind

was the lesson Jesus taught Martha
in a way gently kind.

So to heed this admonition
my personal goals to refine

is to value the example
of a little family in Bethany

escribed

for our thoughts
to be in harmony

with Christ
to align.
